Booking Terms & Conditions

IMPORTANT: Please read below carefully.


Deposits vary from cruise line and how close you are to the actual departure dates. Please make sure that when you pay your deposit, your cruise consultant confirms you have paid the correct amount.

Exchange Rate Adjustments

EXCHANGE RATES: As fluctuations in exchange rates are beyond our control and to take into account for exchange rate fluctuations, Cruise Alert reserves the right to increase any fare prices at any time without prior notice to take into account these exchange rate fluctuations.


All prices are subject to availability and can be withdrawn or varied without notice. The price is only guaranteed when paid in full. Please note that prices quoted are subject to change. Price changes may occur outside our control which will increase the cost of the product or service. This could be driven by currency fluctuations, fuel surcharges, taxes and airfare increases.

Payments by Credit Card

Credit card surcharges of 1.98% for Visa and MasterCard will apply when paying by credit card.


Cruise Alert acts as an agent only. We sell various travel related products on behalf of numerous service providers, such as airlines, hotels and cruise line operators. Our obligation is to make travel bookings on your behalf and to arrange relevant contracts between you and travel service providers. We have no responsibility for these services. All bookings are made on your behalf subject to the terms and conditions and limitations of liability imposed by these service providers. Your legal recourse for travel services is against the specific provider and not us. If for any reason (excluding fault by us) any travel service provider is unable to provide the services for which you have contracted, your recourse lies between the provider and you.


To the extent permitted by law, we do not accept any liability in contract, tort or otherwise for any injury, damage, loss (including consequential loss), delay, additional expense or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by the acts, omissions or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of third party providers over whom we have no direct control, force majeure or any other event which is beyond our control and which is not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part. Under circumstances where liability cannot be excluded and where liability may be lawfully limited, such liability is limited to the value of the purchased travel arrangements. Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to limit any rights you may have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

Governing Law

If any dispute arises in relation to the agreement between you and us, the laws of Australia will apply. You irrevocably and unconditionally submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia, and waive any right that you may have to object to an action being brought in those courts.

Passport name amendments

To avoid amendment fees or a whole new reservation needing to be made, it is paramount that you supply full passport name as it appears in the passport at time of booking. Any corrections / alterations to a passenger name after the booking is made will incur amendment fees.

Passports and Visas

Passports must have at least six months validity post date of return to Australia. Certain ports of call may require visas prior to departure. Valid passports are required for all cruises. Cruise Alert consultants are more than happy to assist you with visa requirements. All Passport and visa requirements remain the responsibility of you, the traveller.

Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance has become a must these days on a number of cruise lines. Therefore we cannot express the importance that appropriate travel insurance be purchased from the date of deposit payment. Cruise Alert use Sure Save Pty Ltd. You will find the link to our travel insurance in the main menu bar.

You must obtain a Product Disclosure Statement relating to the travel insurance product you are considering purchasing and should read that document before making any decision about whether to acquire the product. Travel insurance is strongly recommended by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for all overseas travel.

Please complete your travel insurance application form, sign it and return it to us. We cannot issue your insurance until this form is provided regardless of whether payment has been made. If you decline travel insurance you may be required to sign a disclaimer.

Travel Insurance Claim Documentation

When your Travel Insurance is purchased through Cruise Alert, our consultants will be happy to assist with supporting documentation for your claim without charge. Where you have purchased your Travel Insurance from another source including credit card insurance, we will charge a fee of $200 for providing supporting documentation for your claim.

USA Online Travel Authorisation

All USA Travellers require an authorisation number from USA Dept of Homeland Security website. The website is Failure to complete this process can result in you being denied boarding your flight or cruise to the USA.


Your online Cruise Registration or Cruise Passenger Information Form must be completed before the Cruise Line will release your Cruise documents. Failure to complete this will cause delay. Once complete, the cruise line will release your documentation to Cruise Alert approximately 14 days prior to your departure date from Australia. You do not need to follow up with your cruise consultant prior to this, as all cruise lines issue documentation in 'departure date' order. Your cruise consultant will inform you once your documents have arrived and are ready for postage.

Airline seating and special meals

If you have any special needs (food /access) for flights or cruises, we recommend contacting Cruise Alert direct and our consultant will ensure that your requests are forwarded.


In the case of cancellation once final monies are paid; we will charge a minimum of 10% of the fly/cruise costing or cruise only fare inclusive of all taxes, port charges and accommodation packages to caver all administrative costs. This could be as much as 100% of the purchase price. This charge is in addition to any cancellation fees charged by Cruise Lines and/or airline/hotel/tour operator.

In view of these cancellation fees it is highly recommended that all clients take out comprehensive travel insurance to cover any eventualities. Cruise Alert will not take any responsibility for anyone who does not take out comprehensive insurance.

Dining requests

DINING/DINNER SITTING REQUESTS: Dining times are on a request basis only and are made on a first booked basis. Often your selected time will be on request, waiting confirmation by the cruise line. Confirmation is upon embarkation of your cruise.

Port Charges, Govt fees and Taxes

Port charges and Govt fees are subject to currency fluctuation, and are required by law to be accounted separately from the cruise fare. Airline taxes are also subject to currency fluctuation; and are converted at the exchange rate(s) when final payment is made.


On certain cruise and fly/cruise packages; tipping is included in the fare. Please note this charge is usually automatically added to your onboard account - but is still optional. Please discuss with your cruise consultant at time of booking.

Cabin Guarantee/Ships option

Where your reservation on a particular cruise has been confirmed as a "cabin guarantee" or "ships option" the cruise line is accepting your reservation for that particular grade of accommodation or higher; rather than assigning a specific cabin number. Cabin numbers are confirmed either when your cruise documents are issued, or, upon embarkation with a guarantee you will not be allocated BELOW this grade.

Smoking Policy for Australian departures

In the interest of guest's health, safety and enjoyment during their cruising holiday, smoking is no longer permitted indoors onboard Cruises lines departing from Australia This includes cabins, suites and private balconies. Outdoor smoking venues will be published in the daily newsletter onboard your cruise.


Advertised cruise and fly/cruise packages are subject to airline, hotel and cruise availability at time of booking. Where these advertised packages are not available, Cruise Alert and the cruise line may offer an alternative grade of cabin. Cruise Alert recommend early bookings to avoid disappointment.

Service Provider Conditions

All service providers (Cruise Lines, Airlines, Hotels, Tour Operators etc.) have their own Terms and Conditions. It is you the traveller who is responsible to be aware of them for each service booked. You will find Terms and Conditions on each service providers website or in their brochure. Cruise Alert, as the agent, has no control over the terms and conditions set down by the service provider.

Airfare/Airline Conditions

All airfares are subject to change / increase / withdrawal without notice by the airline(s) until paid in full and tickets issued. All airline schedules are also subject amendments and flight cancellation without notice by the airline. Claims for costs as a result of these actions must be made directly to the airline concerned. Cruise Alert cannot be held responsible for the actions of an airline.

Travel Advice Notices

Prior to any international travel please check with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade at or 1300 555 135. or call 1300 139 281 for updated travel information.

Frequent Flyers

We advise you retain all tickets and boarding passes from your trip so the airline can assist with crediting points that were not collected.

IMPORTANT: Final payment conditions (Exchange Rates)

If your account is not fully paid, you will need to contact your consultant on the day payment is being made as all charges are now subject to any exchange rate changes. We will re-cost all applicable services at the prevailing exchange rate and issue a new statement of account showing any necessary adjustments.


FINAL CRUISE PAYMENT DATE: All Cruise Lines have policy that dictates no extension to final payment date will be given. If you have not made final payment by the due date, the cruise line will cancel and the reservation plus deposits paid will be held as cancellation fees.
